At first, I thought that I would not find any uses for blogging. I am beginning to change my mind on that issue. I can see several beneficial uses of this form of technology. More than likely, I will be using a blog to help keep parents informed about what is going on in my classroom. This would be done in addition to our weekly newsletter but would also provide a way for parents to give feedback directly to me. I am also finding it helpful to write out my thoughts, it has already helped me to pinpoint some of my problems and what I need to do to correct them. I think that just a general blog about my day, kind of like a journal(but for the world to see), will be a good technique to use in working out any personal or teaching issues I am having.
I am still a little bit nervous about what kind of comments I will be receiving but I am sure they will be helpful too.

After reading your entry, I believe I will also be using blogs as a means of communication between my student's parents and myself. I first thought only about a teacher-teacher professional forum, but after reading your blog, I can see that it would be an excellent way to receive direct and timely feedback from parents.
ReplyDeleteI agree that using blogs as a communication tool with parents is a great idea. Especially if the parents works outside of the home. They can read and ask questions from work instead of having to have a printed newsletter or child's planner in front of them. I have a 9 year old that rarely gets things to and from school on the first day sent. So I find myself using e-mail with his teacher often (which cuts out the middle man).
ReplyDeleteYes blogs are great way to get help or help others! And whats great is that you don't have to give your phone number out to the world!
